The holiday season is an important time in the life of any business. It is a way to celebrate accomplishments, thank employees, and strengthen the corporate culture. But it also raises important questions: Should time off be offered? How do you organize a celebration that is inclusive? What rules need to be followed?
In this final newsletter of 2024, we explore these questions and share ideas and statistics to help you strategically navigate the holiday season.
Holiday vacation: Balancing Generosity and Productivity.
Did you know…
- According to a 2023 survey 68% of companies offer additional time off around Christmas and New Year’s.
- Of these, 40% close their offices completely for some time, an approach that reduces the organizational burden on administrative staff.
Extra time off is often seen as a competitive advantage in recruiting and retaining talent, but not all companies can afford an extended shutdown.
So, sometimes we must look at other solutions to help us stay competitive in the world of recruitment and continue to reward loyal employees. Therefore, it is possible to establish floating days off that employees can use to celebrate holidays that are personally significant to them.
Some companies are also offering employees afternoons off starting on December 23 so that everyone can enjoy the festivities while catching up on some work in the morning.
Promoting work-life balance is key to success. We need to find a winning formula for everyone. In short, a thoughtful approach to time off demonstrates an attention to employee well-being while also meeting operational needs.
